We discontinued our program when we stopped flying when the pandemic began. As we venture out into the world again, we're having a fresh look at our relationship to various climate initiatives. Seaweed is quite a curious thing.
Our Tree Planting Program
Problem: At Innovation Bound we get on a lot of airplanes to fly to and from client engagements, and we use a few thousand post-it notes and other supplies on each project. This generates some very real environmental consequences.
Solution: We partner with One Tree Planted to support reforestation efforts.
One Tree Planted works with local organizations around the world, post wildfires, floods, and other deforestation events to plant trees. These trees help restore streams, reduce extreme heat locally, recapture carbon, and in many instances One Tree Planted is helping to create jobs in the local economy.
They aim to plant one tree for every dollar donated to their organization.
Program Details
We plant 3 trees for every hour of flight time. This scrubs our carbon in two average years of the trees’ lives, helps rebuild ecosystems and more!
So far we have planted 77 trees by hand, and an estimated 1180 more via donation to One Tree Planted.
Trees are open source, renewable, fashionable (seeing as they change colors with the seasons), self-sustaining, carbon sequestering, ecosystem restoring technology. That's why we invest in them!
