Business innovation skills for 21st century leaders

Imagine for a moment what it would be like to lead a football team, or a soccer club, to a championship; the long hours of hard work, the meticulous planning, the motivating locker room speeches, the pressure and excitement of the big game.

Now imagine leading the team that will cure cancer. What is your plan? Which part will require hard work? How will you know if you’re succeeding? What will you say in your speeches?

Leading innovation is different.

Leading innovation means leading with questions, not answers. It means inviting imagination to the table, supporting ideas and dedicated time to being creative. It means plunging into the unknown… but, not without the proper breathing apparatus. Innovative efforts can fail, and we don’t bet the company on every new idea. The greatest innovation leaders understand prudence, candor, and risk alongside imagination.

This course is intended for leaders in the organization who have ‘innovation’ in their title or are responsible for innovation as part or all of their job. Our facilitators will guide participants through a dynamic set of activities that highlight various aspects of innovation management. Participants will learn how to cultivate a climate that is conducive to creativity. They will learn how to navigate an innovation process, and guide others through one. The course includes dynamic debriefs to allow learning to become explicit, and provides tools and resources for participants to use back in the office, or in the field.
